Raglan Hut
Raglan Hut is also known as Southern Haulage Hut or Joyce Creek Hut.
This rarely visited hut, located in the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park, was built by C A Bradshaw & Co in the late 1930’s for the logging industry. It was restored in the late 1980’s by Murray High School students under the guidance of project officer Terry Reid.
The hut is constructed from split King Billy Pine and a feature is the full length King Billy palings on the roof – each just over 2 metres in length. The hut is set deep in west coast rainforest which is now regenerating after frequent wildfires. Wildfire, whether accidental or caused by arson or lightning strike, is the bane of the continual existence of these aging, fragile and remote bush huts.
