Lake Newdegate Hut

Newdegate Hut is set amongst pencil pines, pandani and fagus beech and is located on the edge of Lake Newdegate in Mt. Field National Park. The single room hut, built of corrugated iron which was carried by pack horse to the site, was built by the Tasmanian Ski Club in the period 1935-36.  These days, Lake Newdegate Hut is a scenic rest stop for bushwalkers on the Tarn Shelf Circuit and is now under the control of Tas PWS.
