Echo Point Hut
Located in the Cradle Mt-Lake St Clair National Park, Echo Point Hut was built by the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service in 1962 and is set in a magnificent myrtle and sassafras forest which extends from the slopes of Mt. Olympus to the shores of Lake St. Clair. Sitting at the water’s edge, the view across the lake to Mt. Ida makes a spectacular backdrop for the hut. It is an all timber construction with a wooden floor and an iron roof. Located approx 10 kms from Cynthia Bay, Echo Point Hut is a popular day trip for bushwalkers who often combine the short ferry trip (20-30 minutes) from Cynthia Bay to Echo Point and then undertake the return walk (approx 3-4 hours) back to the PWS visitor centre at Cynthia Bay.
